Let's count on from 2.

So the missing numbers are 4 and 6.

Start at 3. Count on 4 more. Which number do you finish on?

3, 4, 5, 6, 7

3 and 4 more takes you to 7.

Now start at 9. Count back 5. Which number do you finish on?

9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4

Counting back 5 from 9 takes you to 4.

A mouse eats 2 blocks of cheese on Monday and 3 blocks of cheese on Tuesday.

How many blocks of cheese have they eaten altogether?

2 plus 3 cheeses.

Start from 2 and count on 3 more.

2, 3, 4, 5

The mouse has eaten 5 blocks of cheese altogether.
