Molly: Looking for patterns鈥ic, load discovered patterns.
Little Kid: Like what?
Narrator: Plants grow in soil, not on the path.
Trees grow where squirrels bury nuts.
Little Kid: Hey, what else?
Molly: You see those Oak trees? They lose their leaves in Autumn.
Little Kid: People wear coats in Autumn.
Wearing coats causes leaves to fall off trees!
Molly: Wait a second! Vic, can you confirm if that鈥檚 true?
Narrator: On its own a pattern doesn鈥檛 prove anything, it鈥檚 just a clue to research something more.
Just as I thought, that pattern proves nothing.
Coats don鈥檛 make trees shed their leaves.
Molly: Hmmm.
Pattern-seeking involves observing, recording and analysing the data. These patterns give you clues that you can analyse and they can help you draw some conclusions.
