Have you ever wanted to travel to the Moon? Most nights, we can see it shining down on us from high in the sky, but have you ever wondered what it is?

First thing鈥檚 first 鈥 it is not made of cheese! The Moon actually has a very rocky surface, with lots of mountains and valleys, just like here on Earth. The Moon鈥檚 surface does not have any plants or water on it though, but it is full of holes. These are called craters, which are made when large rocks floating through Space, known as meteorites, crash into the Moon.

It always looks bright, but the Moon does not make its own light; it can only reflect light. We see the light reflected off the Moon鈥檚 white surface from the Sun.

As the Moon orbits around Earth, it changes shape. Sometimes it can be big and round; this is known as a Full Moon. Other times, it can look like the letter C, just like one you might draw in a spooky Halloween picture. We call this a Crescent Moon. The Moon can also seem to disappear completely each month! Don鈥檛 worry though, this is the New Moon 鈥 it is still there but no light from the Sun can reach it to reflect off its surface.

The Moon is so interesting, hopefully Declan and Pip can build a rocket ship big enough to fit all of us on.
