Now for another.
The big dinosaur is 300cm long and the little dinosaur was 12% of that. So, how long is she? Where is that little critter? Ah, there she is.
Percent means the proportion out of 100 so, to find one percent of the dinosaur's length we divide by 100.
300cm divided by 100 is 3cm.
Now we know one percent of the dinosaur's length we can just multiply that by 12 to find 12%.
Then we'll know how long the little one is.
3cm multiplied by 12 is 36cm.
The trick is to keep it simple by finding the one percent first.
That way you won't bite off more than you can chew.
