A fraction means a part of something or a number of parts of something.
There are two parts to a fraction:
- The number on top shows how many parts there are
- The number on the bottom shows how many parts something has been divided into
陆 means 1 part of something that has been divided into 2 parts.
We call this a half.
If you add two halves together you get one.
陆 + 陆 = 1
鈪 means 1 part of something that has been divided into 3 parts.
We call this a third.
If you add three thirds together you get one.
鈪 + 鈪 + 鈪 = 1
录 means 1 part of something that has been divided into 4 parts.
We call this a quarter.
If you add four quarters together you get one.
录 + 录 + 录 + 录 = 1
