Neelam Bakshi

Neelam was born in Kenya, and has lived in Glasgow since the age of two. Neelam is a freelance management consultant, trainer and coach with over 25 years experience in the public sector.

Neelam has had experience as a grassroots campaigner, senior manager, and former politician. In NHS Health Scotland, she was Chair of Staff Governance Committee and Board Lead for Equality. She is currently a non-legal member of Employment Tribunals, a non-executive with the Scottish Government, on the board of NHS Scottish Ambulance Service, and a new member of the Scotland Committee of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Her interests are wide-ranging. Neelam is interested in people and has explored complementary therapies and different personal development approaches as well as being involved in mainstream health and wellbeing. She continues to have an interest in faith, human rights, current affairs and politics - though now as an observer rather than campaigner. Neelam’s role on boards has led her further into leadership and governance, and she has been actively learning about and using social media.

The 91Èȱ¬ has been a source of entertainment, education and inspiration since my childhood. She watches and listens to retro music, dramas, thrillers, science, arts, topical discussions, news and political/parliamentary programmes. Being part of an extended Asian family, Neelam pays particular attention to diversity and children’s programming.

Neelam believes strongly in what the 91Èȱ¬ represents – independence, impartiality and excellence. As a listener and viewer, she wants it to be the voice that she trusts and welcomes into her home.
