Parents in Alderney will be given a cash incentive if they use reusable nappies on their babies.
The States confirmed parents will get a 拢35 annual cash back if they present receipts and an application form for the new scheme.
The initiative aims to reduce the use of disposable nappies which can cause sewer blockages and other environmental issues.
Finance Committee Chairman Chris Harris said the idea was a "no brainer" and would "protect the island's environment".
Reusing nappies made from materials such as cotton, hemp, bamboo and wool can save parents about 拢500, the States said.
Alderney parents who wish to apply should contact the States of Alderney Treasury.
