What should I write?

This data is public facing and is used for:

• your 91热爆 programme page (webpage)
• the text accompanying your programme on 91热爆 Sounds
• EPG listings for radio on TV
• information for listings pages (such as )
• information to brief announcers (91热爆 Radio 4 and the 91热爆 World Service)

It's really important that you sell your content. Think about the things that will hook potential listeners in and what they might type in using a search engine.

Follow the below steps to add public facing data

• Log in using the login details provided by Proteus support
• Navigate to 'Programme/ Transmission' search from the homepage
• Search for your programme title and TX date
• Select 'Descriptions' for your desired programme
• Select 'Edit' on public facing information to enter an episode title if required and then select 'Save'
• Select the 'Edit' button on the 'Descriptions' section. Enter short, medium and long description and then 'Save'
• Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the 'Complete' button
• Request for your programme to be approved by your comissioining network

Note: Changes to these pages will update on the site instantly after being approved so make sure the information that you update is accurate.

Descriptions FAQs

Can I update my descriptions later?

This will need to be completed by you and approved by the network again. Nothing goes live on public facing sites until it is approved by the network.

Can I update after a programme has been broadcast?

Updates made and approved in Proteus will be published within seven days of TX. After this point please contact Proteus Support if you need to make changes, though do also check with your commissioining network as some do want to know of any changes.

Most potential listeners search for your programme in the 24 hour period after broadcast so it is worth updating the description, particularly if you work on a topical show.

Do I have to enter 1800 characters for the long description?

No! In fact a long description is optional. Think about whether there are interesting or useful things to say.

Why is my description incorrect on the 91热爆 website?

Check that the description in Proteus has been approved (i.e. green tick status). 

Approved descriptions should feed through to the live sites within an hour of approval.

If your description is not updated within 24 hours, or you need to make an urgent change, you will need to contact Red Bee Media.

Can I save descriptions as a draft and then come back to them?

This is not advisable as it can remove your programme from the schedule. 

Can I edit descriptions which have been approved?

You can make changes to descriptions at any time, but you will need these to be approved again for them to display on public facing sites.

Do I need to copy programme descriptions into repeats?

鈥婲o, there is only one set of descriptions for an episode/ programme and once entered they will cover all repeat transmissions in the future, on any network. 

If necessary, edits can be made to the text but please bear in mind that this will cover all transmissions on any network. 

PLEASE NOTE

If the repeat is an edited/reversioned programme where the audio content is significantly different from the original, be careful not to overwrite the original description as this will still be needed for straight repeats.

Instead, contact the network to discuss if separate episode descriptions are required. If they are, they will create this for you so you can complete them. 

What do I do if I have added a description to the wrong programme?

Click 'Edit', remove the incorrect information and then click 'Approve'. Then search again to find the correct programme.

What do I do if I don鈥檛 have a long description to enter?

Leave the long description blank. The system will automatically look for the longest available description. The short description must be provided.
