All music used must be reported within 14 days of transmission to guarantee that all of the licence obligations are met and the correct royalties will be distributed.
If there is no music in your programme, you must still select the 'Send Music Report' button so that the Music Reporting Unit (MRU) are aware that no music was used.
Do I need to fill in the music details in Proteus?
If you use Dira to report music for a live show, you do not need to enter the music information into Proteus.
If unsure, with your commissioning network or Proteus Support.

Sending the report
Once all music is added and the correct durations are entered you are ready to submit the music reporting.
Please note that you can only click 'Send Music Report' after the programme has been transmitted.
For straight repeats, the music report will be sent automatically by the system. If there is an edited repeat of the programme, you will need to search for the repeat transmission, edit the running order as required, and send the music report again.
How to send the music report
- Add all music items to the running order with correct durations. The duration listed in your running order should reflect the amount of time that the piece is played at that point in the programme, not the full duration of the track
- Check that the 'Sig tune / Dubbed' boxes have been ticked, if relevant
- To submit the music report click 'Send Music Report' at the top of the running order
- The pop-up will display the number of music items to be sent. Check the number is correct. If it is select 'Yes'
- The music report status will change to amber. The transfer will take place overnight
- The following day, the status will change from amber to green (Received) status
Correcting errors when the music report has been sent
If you have already clicked the 'Send Music Report' button and then discover you have made a mistake check the MRU status.
- If the music report status is still amber, the system has not sent the data to the MRU. Click 'Edit', make any corrections and 'Save'
- If the Music Report status is green (received), music information has been received by the MRU. Click 'Edit', make corrections, click 'Save'. You will be able to re-send the report
Note
If you have already clicked the 'Paperwork Complete' button, it may not be possible to edit the running order and correct any music errors.
Please contact Proteus Support to request for the running order to be unlocked.
