Chernor Saidu Bah has started a new Outlook Club in Sierra Leone.

"I decided to set up an Outlook Club because Outlook has played a great role for many peoples in the community around the world," he wrote in an email to Outlook.

"The programme helps them get assistance from many different organizations through news, ideas and education."

Chernor comes from the Tombo district of Sierra Leone - an area of beautiful beaches where people make their living through tourism and fishing.

ÌýTo make contact with Outlook by email, Chernor has to travel 25 kilometres to the Sierra Leone capital Freetown.

"Many people here lack education," says Chernor, "There are few jobs and there are many other issues related to poverty."

Chernor himself is 35, has four sisters and two brothers and is unemployed.

He lost several family members during the recent Civil War (1991-2000), and he himself fled to Banana Island off the coast of Sierra Leone.

He has travelled recently to Senegal, the Gambia and to Guinea in search of work.

In Tombo district there are no internet connections. To make contact with Outlook by email, Chernor has to travel 25 kilometres to the Sierra Leone capital Freetown.

He said that he hopes to travel round his local district in Sierra Leone talking to people about Outlook - and he says that there is already a large number of people wanting to join the club.
