"If you look long enough down the throat of a lion he will eat you."
Those were words of a photojournalist on the death of his colleague, photojournalist and documentary maker Christian Poveda.
Poveda was shot dead after making a documentary about violent young “mara" gang members in El Salvador.
And the person who shot him is believed to be one of his subjects - a Salvadorean gang member.
Poveda specialised in difficult and dangerous assignments others would not touch. Sadly he paid with his life.
The 91Èȱ¬'s Nick Fraser has worked before with Christian Poveda. He spoke to Outlook’s Valerie Sanderson and described the life and work of his friend.
