The children of Beslan

It was five years ago that armed extremists seized a school in the Russian town of Beslan.
The hostages were kept prisoner in the school gym as their captors hung explosive devices around the room.
The extremists were demanding the withdrawal of Russian troops from Chechnya.
After three days the siege ended in tragedy when Russian special forces stormed the building after a series of deadly explosions.
330 people died, more than half of them children.
Not surprisingly the town is still haunted by what happened at the school.
91Èȱ¬ Film maker Ewa Ewart first went to Beslan two months after the siege ended and returned to mark its fifth anniversary.
She interviewed children who survived the terrible events and found them able to talk with remarkable candour about what happened.
