Veronica in Kampala, Uganda - I hope Algeria and Ghana go through to the second round to represent Africa. It will be too bad for us to host the World Cup in Africa and have no African team go through to the second round. May the Lord bless them with many goals to be able to sail through.

Scott McMenemy - The England team visited an orphanage in Cape Town today. "It's very sad to see their faces covered with sadness and hopelessness." said Jamal, aged 6.

A fair few comments already - and a lot reflecting the tension in the air for all four teams. The draws might have been tight so far, but they have resulted in an excellently set-up group - there could be drama at any minute...

Dave A - Capello must have something against both Joe Cole and Peter Crouch. The former one of the most creative players we have (though I'm no fan) and the latter who has by far the best goals to games ratio and causes untold aerial misery for defenders.
This on top of selecting a centre back who was part of a defence that almost met with relegation as opposed to one again left on the sidelines but plays in Europe next season.
Oh well, let us hope that wearing the national shirt might at least engender some pride in those who wear it today, it has been sadly lacking.
