On air at 17&18GMT: Should the photo be released?

| Wednesday, 5 May 2011 | 18:00 - 19:00 GMT

First things first, this is the 91热爆 Livepage if you want to follow the latest updates on the story. And in no particular order these questions are the most discussed at the moment:

1) Should a photo of Bin Laden's body be released however graphic it is?

2) Should America and other countries continue to give aid to Pakistan?

3) Should America continue to work with Pakistan in countering Islamist extremism (clearly Leon Panetta didn't like the idea when it came to this operation)?

4) Is Pakistan right to call this a worldwide intelligence failure, rather than a failure of the ISI?

We'll talk all of through on the radio later. But you can get posting here on the blog now.

@91热爆_WHYS No they should not. Let al-Qaeda release pictures or video of #OBL alive if anyone needs proof he's not dead.

Jill in Cleveland emails: This is sensationalism and a pity that its the topic of concern for so many. Another problem I see with releasing the photos not mentioned is that once released it is at the hands of the public to do with as they will. I don't trust the general public to treat the image with respect and consideration for the delicate nature of this issue.

Natalia in Japan emailed: I don't believe Osama Bin Laden is dead - Unless they show the details and his body. And even if he is dead, I doubt he had anything to do with 9/11. America has a bad habit of blaming Islam for all crime.

Oonogil7 posts on abc news.com: I want to see the photos. I would like to see the films of the operation. If I could I would go see the body. I don't need proof. I want to gloat.

Jen posts: The conspiracy theorists won't believe OBL is dead unless they each personally get to poke his dead body with a stick.

Sarah posts: I agree with the guy who just spoke, saying "believing is believing." It's true, people who don't believe will not be satisfied with a photo. They will just keep saying it's "photoshopped" - like Obama's birth certificate.

Choko posts on Yahoo: I don't think most of the American public 'needs' to see the body at all. If they wanted to lie about it then they would have done so about 10 years ago when it was all more urgent. There is no longer any motivation to falsify his death.

Rahul in Kuwait:We need proof ; a lot of speculation of his death is going on Nobody is afraid of any graphic content! Its just an excuse the USA is using

OBL is dead whether anyone doubts it or not. No need to stare at pictures. We are done with him. Let鈥檚 move on.

Baron Zhivago posts on ABC news.com: I can't believe they could even think of releasing the pictures. It's like asking to be hit again. Releasing the picture shouldn't even be considered just like I don't think they should have released the information that he didn't have a weapon.

Abubakar tweets: Let the photos be released. When Saddam Hussain & his children were killed, did thy ask people before they released the images?

Whether we believe bin Laden is dead or not is non-issue. The issue is whether or not Al-Qaeda will strike again and where. We need to keep our eye on the ball and not become complacent. If he is indeed dead, this will serve as a rallying point for them to look at him as an inspiring martyr.

@91热爆_whys I believe bin laden is dead but I still want to see the photo

I don鈥檛 want to see a picture of the body of Osama bin Ladin. The real conspiracy is whether Pakistan were granting him a safe haven.
