Does the ICC's intervention promote Kenyan stability?

| Wednesday, 12 Dec. 2010 | 18:06 - 19:00 GMT

The International Criminal Court has accused six high-profile Kenyans of being behind the violence that led to 1,200 deaths. Several questions are arising. We'll be live in Kibera (on the outskirts of Nairobi) to hear reaction from people there. How would you answer the questions below?

Does your caller really expect us to believe that he did not choose Britain for ease of entry and economic considerations (benefits). Eamonn in Kent.

Nathan - My reaction? That immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees are human beings and this was a tragic disaster.

Isaac - lately, Australia has become a racist society. They participated in invading Iraq and occupying Afghanistan, so they should eat humble pie and take in the refugees

Robyn on the blog - Australia's not to blame. Here in the US its sad to see what lengths people will go to to get here from Cuba or Mexico. But the bottom line is they make the choice to leave their homes and take many dangerous routes to get to our country.

Paul - Why is it these so called asylum seekers made the trip halfway around the world and not to a neighbouring country, something to do with claiming benefits perhaps?

George -The blood of these unfortunate souls is in the hands of the Australian government. If immigration policy wasn't so impervious and more in tune with the facts of life people wouldn't take such perilous risks.

Andrew Stamford on the blog - Dont nations have a right to protect their borders from those willing to enter it illegally. While there are refugees in the world, there always will be, to consider that all have honest motives for getting to any country is inviting trouble and problems later

We''re wrapping up our discussion on Kenya and moving on to look at the drowning of 27 asylum seekers, heading to Australia, off Christmas Island in the Pacific. What are your thoughts on the tragedy?

Journalist Njoroge Tsar - Ocampo should have included in his list the two principals. The kenya government should participate with the icc to give kenyans justice.

Kerry in Kenya - Kenya needs to see some justice. I write from Kenya &not a single person has ever been prosecuted for the post election violence. We wished the list could be longer but let them be an example

It is not true that the ICC is biased against personalities from our continent Africa. Anyone who follows world events critically will agree that Africa produces the highest number of trouble makers than any other place in the world and hence the high number of its people who appear before this court. I agree with the callers claiming that Kibaki and Raila have been unfairly let off the hook. There is no way the former police commission Hussein Ali could have taken action without instructions from above as he had no political affiliations. Peter from Reading UK
