Raise Your Game: Why do you like sport?
Gethin Jones: Sport has probably been the most important thing in my life since I can remember. It's about getting out and meeting people. With rugby you can create a really good bond with people on the pitch. You put your body on the line for them. You win together, lose together, celebrate together and commiserate with each other. From a very early age I have made lifelong friends through playing rugby.
RYG: Why is it important for young people to get into team sports?
GJ: Team sports are essential in creating a bond with people and creating friendships. That can be really special particularly when you achieve something as a team. Winning a cup or even winning a game can be the best feeling in the world. It's about meeting people, having fun and keeping fit.
RYG: How did you adapt to learning something new when you took part in Strictly Come Dancing?

GJ: I actually saw Strictly Come Dancing as a sport. I viewed every Saturday as a big challenge and as a different game. Every week we would have a different dance to learn and therefore a different opposition to face. We got to the semi-finals and as with any sporting competition, when you go out at the semi-final stage you are very disappointed. It was an amazing experience and it taught me a new skill.
RYG: What has sport given you?
GJ: Sport has given me friendships, great times and it's kept me fit. It's a great thing to watch with friends and it's even better to take part in. Rugby is my main game but I have an appreciation for all sports. Wherever you go in the world you can pick up a ball and join in with other people.
RYG: What advice would you give to anybody looking to get into sport?
GJ: Get your boots on and get down to your local sports club and have fun! Don't worry about the winning yet and make sure you enjoy every minute of it!
