Brymbo Developments

Twenty years on from the closure of Brymbo Steelworks, developers and local council are at stalemate over plans to regenerate the historic site.

In this week's programme, presenter Chris Dearden travels to Wrexham to investigate claims that promises to bring new life to Brymbo have met a dead end.

Last updated: 12 February 2011

Residents of a new estate built on the former steelworks site are frustrated and angry that a new road, intended to link them to the existing village of Brymbo, has never been completed.

Developers Brymbo Developments Limited want planning permission to build more new homes, and a supermarket, to provide £2 million funding to finish the road.

But they're set to appeal after local councillors turned down the plans amid concerns that the estate has been built without any of the promised infrastructure.
