Eye On Wales: Monday 23 July

Workplace accidents

Monday 23July at 6.32pm
(repeated Sunday 29 July at 6.31am)

The eyes of the families of Welsh workers who have died in workplace accidents will be on Westminster this week, where plans to introduce a new offence of corporate manslaughter hang in the balance.

As MPs and Peers argue over the fine print, the clock is ticking and the bill - almost a decade in the making - may be lost if agreement can't be reached before the Parliamentary recess begins on Thursday.

While Welsh families who have lost loved ones at work say that the proposed legislation is not as strong as they would like, they're urging the law makers to resolve their differences and see the law onto the statute books.

This week Eye on Wales talks to those families about the tragic events that led them to campaign for the Corporate Manslaughter Bill and hears why they think the legislation could be improved.
