Eye On Wales: Monday 12 March

Emergency admissions

Monday 12 March at 6.03pm
(repeated Sunday 18 March at 6.31am)

"I ring 999 and no ambulance comes, I dial 999 again and no ambulance comes - that's completely and utterly unacceptable." The words of Alan Murray, chief executive of the Welsh Ambulance Services Trust. "When someone needs an ambulance they don't want a fire engine or police car."

But that's exactly what has increasingly been happening across South Wales in recent years. This week's Eye on Wales hears the concerns of patients, firefighters and police officers and talks at length to Alan Murray about his plans to make such incidents a thing of the past.
