- Description: A beautiful Pembrokeshire coastal walk with a few steep climbs.
The majority of this walk is flat with a few steeper climbs to and from the beaches. Derek was accompanied on the walk by Lynne Ferrand from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
The route began in the car park above St Govan's which takes you alongside some of the M.O.D. firing range.
Walking down the seventy or so stone steps to the chapel, you'll immediately forget all about the 21st century as you step back in history to a time of hermits and smugglers.
The legend states that no-one can accurately count the exact number of steps up and down, so give it a try and see how you get on.

The chapel was definitely here in the 11th century, and could possibly date back to the 6th century.
The scenery along this coast is breathtaking and you should definitely try to visit the historic chapel tucked into the bottom of the cliffs at St Govan's Head.
Nearby, the golden sandy beach at Broad Haven South is beautiful and backs on to the fabulous lily ponds at Bosherston - a haven for plants and wildlife.

The water here is clear and home to , heron, pike and a variety of birds, plants and other aquatic life.
You'll find plenty of pike fisherman along here and the eight arch bridge towards the 'Mencap centre' at the far end is well worth seeing.
Walking along the coastal path you'll eventually arrive at the stunning Barafundle Bay. It's a peaceful beach, surrounded by cliff, dunes and woodland - making it a perfect spot for a picnic.
After a steep climb up the steps from this beach, back onto the headland you'll find yourself at Stackpole Quay.
Take a look down from the top and you'll see the quay below. It's a great spot for swimming in the summer when the tide is in and popular with scuba divers.
Treat yourself to a cream tea at the local cafe and if you're feeling tired - catch a bus back to St Govan's.
During the walk, keep your eyes peeled for as well as the razorbill and guillemot nesting precariously in the sea cliffs.
