Gigrin Farm
Given that 30 years ago Wales had a mere handful of breeding pairs of the beautiful red kite, it's astonishing that every afternoon at Gigrin Farm a wheeling cloud of the famous raptors fills the sky.
The success of the red kite conservation programme is in part down to the efforts of feeding stations such as this Rhayader location, which was approached in 1994 by the RSPB to assist their efforts.
Now a bona fide tourist attraction, Gigrin is also a working sheep farm of approximately 200 acres, and has 1.5 mile nature trail around the farm.
The trail links to the RSPB's Dyffryn reserve as well as a wetland area which attracts wild ducks, herons, gadwall and different species of wagtails.
Gigrin's kite feeding - using prime beef - takes place at 2pm GMT or 3pm BST.
