Located in one of the principal towns on the North Wales coast, the original choir was founded in 1895.
They have achieved considerable success in competition and have won three times at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, in each of the three categories for choirs with fewer than 40, 40-60 and 60+ voices. They have also won first prize at the International Choral Competition in Cork and have been winners three times of the Stena/Sealink Competition.
They featured in the Two Fat Ladies Picnic at Llandudno, a TV programme that has been shown worldwide. Consequently the choir has had orders for their CD and cassette recordings from all over the world including every America, Australia, Canada and Europe.
They have toured Canada, Germany, Holland, Ireland, and Malta with further tours planned. They have also hosted choirs from Russia, USA, Australia, Spain, Ireland, Sweden, England and Canada.
The choir enthusiastically supports local good causes and has raised over £100,000 for charity through their concerts.
Rehearsals are held on Wednesday and Sunday evenings 7.30-9pm at the Community Centre, Greenhill, Old Colwyn (behind the Plough Inn). Visitors are welcome but telephone first in case arrangements have changed.
