We saw men walking about with their eyes open but they couldn't see anything at all - "they weren't living in this world".
In this clip Rupert Rees from Aberdare tells how his uncle succumbed to shellshock during World War One and his subsequent move to a hospital in Bridgend with many fellow sufferers.
"Coming back form the hospital I remember my mother grabbing hold of my hand - tightly - as if to say - you're not going".
