Nghaire is deeply attached to the china ornaments her great-grandmother gave her before she had her stroke. Now she is going into an old people's home and Nghaire feels guilty because she hasn't seen her since the stroke. It's not that she doesn't care, but she's afraid to see the way her independent great-grandmother has been changed by illness.
