Kate Monks: Ponty

Ponty

By Kate Monks
February 2005,
A digital story from Shoebox Stories

"Here is my Pontypridd rugby shirt. It probably doesn't mean much to you, but to me it's quite special. I don't wear it to the games because if I do, we'll only lose.

I go whenever I can to support Ponty; it's a fun day out to the rugby. Socialising with my girlfriends or sometimes I go with my mother and sister. We all really make a day of it, especially the away games.

My best rugby moment was when Ponty were playing Llanelli for the Principality Cup in the Millennium Stadium three years ago. We won. And no, I wasn't wearing my Ponty shirt.

My worst rugby moment was when Neath knocked us out of this year's cup match away game back in October. And yes, I wore the shirt. I'm going to get a new rugby shirt. I hope it will be luckier than the last one. We need it."

"Ha ha, I was at the Cup final when you beat Llanelli. Cracking match! Sardis Road is a great ground to visit, I'll have to visit again sometime with my mates. Great crowd and always a warm welcome from the Ponty fans!! Thanks Kate!" Chris, Maesteg.
