"Since I was young I've always loved stories."

Transcript

"Since I was young I've always loved stories. I loved listening to them and being inspired by them, but more then anything I loved to tell them.

As a child, I used to gather my younger sisters together - sometimes, I have to say, with a bit of arm twisting - and tell them stories, never quite knowing beforehand what I would say or how it would end. I liked to go live!

As I grew up though, other things in life took over - exams, jobs, boyfriends, houses - and my love of stories gradually faded.

Then, in 1997, a friend told me about a story telling seminar that was about to take place. I was off! Something had been re-ignited and I just had to be there. And what I experienced at that seminar changed my life!

Each session began with some juggling - to help balance both sides of the brain apparently. There was dressing up in outrageous clothes, lots of word games, miming and improvisation. Not to mention the stories round the camp fire and of course the friendships that were forged. But more than anything there was the feeling - a feeling of liberation like never before. And it was the sense of liberation that changed my life. The thrill, I discovered, was in the freedom, you see, that I granted myself to go live at the point in the trust and belief that I could - as I had done all those years ago in my childhood, when trusting and believing in myself was never in question."
