Elis James is one of the exciting new faces of Welsh comedy, a rising star who has supported Rhod Gilbert on tour and who performed his début solo show at the 2009 Edinburgh Festival to many plaudits.
Bilingual comedian Elis James began his stand-up career in 2005.
In August 2008 he hosted the new act showcase The Comedy Zone at the Edinburgh Fringe. He performed at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2008 and in 2009 took his debut solo show, The Most Cautious Little Boy In Wales, to Edinburgh.
In 2008 and 2009 he supported Rhod Gilbert on his national tour, Rhod Gilbert and the Award-Winning Mince Pie.
James has worked as a warm-up artist for Channel 4 entertainment show Deal Or No Deal. He has also written material for S4C programmes Llew ap Blew and Ar y Boks and has also appeared on Uned 5.
He regularly appears on as character Rex. He also performs as Rex in show The Committee Meeting, which he co-writes with fellow Welsh funnyman Chris Corcoran.
In 2010 he starred in the Best of the Edinburgh Fest that took in comedy festivals in Australia - in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
James appeared at the in August 2010 as part of the Five Pound Fringe, with his show . He blogged for 91Èȱ¬ Wales for the duration of his stint at the festival - read his entries on the 91Èȱ¬ Wales Arts blog.
In January 2012 he presents new comedy series Elis James' Pantheon of Heroes on 91Èȱ¬ Radio Wales, which he has co-written with Gareth Gwynn and Ben Partridge.
