They just pick it up and take it Nice little moverIn 2006 Stockton became one of the first places in the country to give its Enforcement Officers a range of new powers. Now, the council is now assessing whether it's been a success. 91热爆 Tees' Martin Forster went on patrol with them.
Imagine this one. You left your car outside your house this morning. You came home this afternoon and it's gone. Worse still, you've just been handed a 拢200 fine. You should have got it taxed, really. If you get a tax disc quickly, then you can get most of that money back, but of the 1600 cars Stockton Council alone has seized in the past four years, more than half have ended up being crushed. This is part of the remit of the council's Neighbourhood Enforcement Team, who have (and exercise) the ability to call a pick up truck when they see an untaxed car and have it taken away on the spot. last updated: 26/11/07 You are in: Tees > We Are Teesside > Features > Nice little mover |
