Where was your favourite dancefloor?

Your top nightspots

Every Saturday night between 6 and 9pm John Foster gets you dancing to all your favourite tunes from the great clubs that you used to shake your stuff at in the area. But which were your favourite haunts...

John Foster's been asking for your memories of top Nightspots in Teesside, County Durham and North Yorkshire that are now no more (and one or two that still are!)

The response was huge – here are a few of your favourites…

KLUB KUDOS REDCAR.. This Legendary Club Caned Every Other In The Redar Area Between 1996 To 1999. What a loss for the people of Redcar. What brilliant memories & atmosphere!

mick hockney
dont see the outlook of mbro on your list,it was below st marys,at the same time the scene was on the go which was opp town hall, all top groups, kinks pretty things, sure the stones were at the scene ect,the scene was the rocker venue and the outlook was the mod venue, really good days, all the best mick

I can't believe nobody's mentioned The Sandpiper in Redcar. Back in the late 80's/early 90's, it was THE place to go for the Goth/Alternative people in the area

Jon Wigham
I don't know. You Redcar lot! What about "The Coatham" became "Darcy's" burned down and became "Manhatten's". Happy days and yes, I was over 18!Worked through the fire and rebuild of Philmore's as well. Shame it all ended...

Janet Carr
can anyone remember if superstars closed around October 1982 and then reopened again (do you know when) and then closed again before reopening as Peppermint park? I think it closed for refurbishment opened but then very quickly changed to peppermint park, not sure if there was a fire after the refurbishment or not.

Evelyn Hodgson
does anyone know when superstars closed and peppermint park opend?(stockton)good old days

Richard Green
Unquestionably, by far the best designed and intimate club in " the good old club days...was the Sporting Club at Southbank"" Crazy Baby..."

David Beeston
Where the hell was the Pink Flamingo in Stockton

Gary Millar
Don't forget the Middlesbrough Inncognito, which was THE best club ever in the early 70's! It's hey-day was between '75 to '78 & was situated on Linthorpe Road, above a Jewellrey shop opposite the cleveland Centre.I think the shop underneath was Beaverbrooks.

I remember LEO's...also Blue lagoon changed to Asters, fantastic nights there had by all.

Martin Dixon
Does any-one else remember the classic Gazzette article that killed Philmores? "Sweat dripping from the walls... some men were bare-chested..." awesome stuff!
