The Tees lies inbetween two strong regional accents nortumbria and yorkshire and its people had to be understood by both for commerce,hence the mild accent of the area.TV now has a greater influence on the accent,due to the less tribal people of the area.

a lot of 'regional' accents are awful to hear, I prefer '91热爆 English' as opposed to 'posh', there is a big difference, but at least the 91热爆 lingo is pleasant and easily understood, anywhere.

I am not from this area. The accent is not easily recognized outside the region. Sometimes it is mistaken for a Geordie accent and there seem to be traces of scouse in it too. When first came here 33 years ago I found some words hard to understand. e.g. canny, shot (throw) back arch, bad (ill) but there does not seem to be a lot of dialect compared with some areas.
