Suffolk SessionsYou are in: Suffolk > Entertainment > Music > Suffolk Sessions > Tom Baxter Tom BaxterThe Suffolk singer/songwriter is now based in London, but he remains a local boy at heart and popped in to 91热爆 Suffolk to say hello to Stephen Foster and to record five session tracks.
Help playing audio/video Tom spent his early childhood in Cornwall before returning to Suffolk to live in Ipswich, and then to the King's Head Hotel in Bungay. His parents, who had also been musicians, ran the hotel as well as the attached ballroom cum nightclub - Charlie's Bar. It was there that Tom, along with his brother and fellow singer/songwriter Charlie Winston, crafted their musical skills. In 2004 Tom released debut album Feather and Stone on Columbia records. Now separated from the major, his follow up LP is on his own Sylvan label. "I had to wait for a little while until I got out of my last contract, but it's been brilliant for me to be able to do a lot of the things I was wanting to do," Tom told Stephen Foster about the time spent between the release of Feather and Stone. "One of them was the launch of this record, so as soon as I had an opportunity I made it and then integrated it with a series of 10 canvasses. Each canvass represented the lyrics of each song. "It was very rewarding as we financed a lot of making the record through selling the canvasses. It's different but very related - music and painting have always been integrated for me." Tom received a lot of attention in 2007 when single Better was picked up by David Schwimmer - star of Friends and director of Run, Fat Boy, Run. The track appeared in the final version of the film, which made it to number one in the UK Box Office. For our 91热爆 Suffolk session, Tom performed Better and three other tracks from Skybound along with A Day In Verona from his debut album.
