"Eleven couples, soon to be ten, dressed up to the nines." So said Bruce as he introduced week six of Strictly Come Dancing. This week's exciting evening saw our eleven couples battle it out with dramatic Paso Dobles and romantic Viennese waltzes.

Lisa and Brendan kicked off proceedings with their rendition of the Paso Doble danced to the Eye of the tiger by Survivor. Len reminded us that the Paso Doble was a story of the bullfight, of drama and passion adding, "I thought you coped with the choreography very, very well." Bruno reckoned their performance smacked "more of Vogue than the arena". Craig partly agreed with Bruno still reckoning they did "very, very well". Arlene offered some timely advice saying, "You need to open and widen your spine. Work on it," she urged, "because I think you're going to be fabulous."

Score: Craig 7, Arlene 7, Len 8, Bruno 7 Total 29.

Up next were Andrew and Ola casting a romantic spell across the dance floor dancing the Viennese Waltz to Annie's Song by John Denver. Andrew might have suffered the smallest of stumbles during the routine but still Len reckoned he'd displayed a "feeling of romance about the whole dance." Bruno encouraged saying, "you're posture is better but you need more drive and more confidence." Craig agreed with Bruno while Len commented on Andrew's "good effort". Arlene was clearly impressed too: "You have made such a staggering improvement. For a fleeting moment you were absolutely into the dance and that's a first."

Score: Craig 5, Arlene 6, Len 7, Bruno 6 Total 24.

Christine and Matthew swept to the dancefloor next offering themselves up to the judges with a confident performance of the Paso Doble to Fighter by Christina Aguilera. Arlene didn't see the drama in Christine and Matthew's performance, suggesting "it looked more like a domestic with you as Madonna and a bored looking Guy Ritchie." Len agreed: "It wasn't dramatic enough," adding,"you're too nice a person to do a Paso Doble." Bruno wasn't convinced either saying, "It was so floppy. Sometimes there's a dance which doesn't suit a personality. This was one of them." Craig seemed to agree: "At times you were rag-dollish."

Score: Craig 3, Arlene 6, Len 7, Bruno 6 Total 22.

Most of the judges seemed to enjoy Austin and Erin's graceful performance of the Viennese Waltz to Send in The Clowns. "It's like watching the return of the King - you were really playing the part tonight," said Bruno. Arlene described their footwork as "sentimental and romantic", while Len went straight to the point: "I loved it. Ooooh, gorgeous!". Only Craig failed to moved it seemed saying, "I just wish you had smiled once. It was just a bit flat and cold."

Score: Craig 8, Arlene 8, Len 9, Bruno 9 Total 34.

The slip-up at the beginning of Cherie and James' Paso Doble dance to Amparito was noted by Craig but it was Arlene who reckoned it needed a bit more effort saying to Cherie, "I just wish you could do all that again with fire in your belly. You just lost your courage this week." Len maintained the largely positive nature of the judge's feedback reassuring Cherie, "you gave a food performance but not quite as good as you have been," something echoed by Bruno who said of the performance "You are naturally gifted. The performance just wasn't up to the standard of the actress you can be."

Score: Craig 7, Arlene 8, Len 8, Bruno 8 Total 31.

Heather and her partner Brian sparkled with their Viennese Waltz dancing to Vision of Love by Mariah Carey. Three of the judges loved it."This style suits you," beamed Arlene. "I have a feeling that you felt together on the floor," she continued, adding, "I adored the shoulder shimmy." Len was agreed, "You've come back strong, well done." Bruno seemed to adore Heather too gushing, " You were a vision of loveliness. The relationship between you two read very well." Craig, on the other hand, seemed to have an entirely different experience, dismissing Heather and Brian's performance as "a little bit pedestrian."

Score: Craig 5, Arlene 7, Len 7, Bruno 8 Total 27.

Mark Foster had put in some practise in the boxing ring this week in a bid to stoke the fire within but he didn't look entirely comfortable at the beginning of his performance of the Paso Doble with Hayley dancing to Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson. Bruno wasn't particularly impressed, "You look like a god but dance like a geek." Craig agreed, saying he reckoned their performance was "a little bit like a stick insect on acid." Arlene reckoned she'd pinpointed the problem saying "You weren't in time with the music" although Len had other ideas, "the trouble is you're not a natural dancer. It's all taut .. that's why it looks like a little awkward."

Score: Craig 2, Arlene 3, Len 6, Bruno 5 Total 16.

Tom and Camilla presented the judges with a graceful rendition of the Viennese Waltz to Can't Help Falling in Love with You by Elvis. Craig was impressed, describing their offering as "absolutely gorgeous". Arlene agreed saying, "The relationship of you two dancing together was absolutely fabulous." although Len was unconvinced: "I didn't like it too much" pointing to one or two mistakes Tom had made in his performance. Bruno, on the other hand, reckoned the secret was that Tom and Camilla had "covered the mistakes up with such assurance."

Score: Craig 7, Arlene 9, Len 7, Bruno 9 Total 32.

The audience may have gone wild for John and Kristina's performance of the Paso Doble to the Rodrigo Guitar Concerto, Len had other ideas. "After all that marching Seargant," he quipped, "you should be demoted to a private". Bruno wasn't convinced either adding, "you just looked very very tired like you needed to siesta." Craig seemed unimpressed quipping "you take marching to a whole new level" But it was Arlene who saved the day: "you looked like you were grumpy but you looked like you had a party."

Score Craig 3, Arlene 6, Len 6, Bruno 6 Total 21.

Up next were Rachel and Vincent with a graceful Viennese Waltz dancing to Everybody Hurts by REM. The judges were largely in agreement. Arlene reckoned their perforamnce was "wistful, sweet and charming." Len wasn't entirely in agreement saying, "I liked it, but it was flat. I can't get excited because it wasn't exciting." Bruno concluded their was performance was "graceful, elegant and effective" while Craig thought they "did it beautifully."

Score Craig 8, Arlene 8, Len 8, Bruno 8 Total 32.

The evening conluded with a dramatic Paso Doble from Jodie and Ian danced to Song Number 2 by Blur. "You went so much for attack, the precision went," said Bruno as he delivered his verdict. Craig might have considered it "square and stompy" but still he found their performance, "quite exciting". Arlene reckoned Jodie had hit her "Paso-hurdle" with the act. Len, on the other hand, was a little more forgiving saying "it wasn't your best dance but it wasn't your worst dance."

Score Craig 6, Arlene 6, Len 7, Bruno 7 Total 26.
