News
It's week nine and the stakes are higher than ever. So which couple will be saying farewell to the dancefloor this weekend?
Jodie and Ian were the first to dance, performing a Quickstep to Mr Pinstripe Suit by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
Len thought it was "Bright and light, like skipping across hot coals."
For Bruno, the pair were "really back on track". He declared, "This is the way to go if you want to be a winner!"
Craig thought they were much better than last week, and Arlene said that while "they say tall girls aren't fast, you looked like you were training for the hundred metres in 2012!"
Score: Craig 7, Arlene 8, Len 9, Bruno 9. Total 33.
Up next were Lisa and Brendan, Samba-ing their way across the floor to Rock The Boat by The Hues Corporation.
Bruno thought that the rolls weren't smooth enough, raising strong objections from Bruno, but he did say that "Overall, I thought it was very good."
Arlene told Lisa that "there's a tension inside of you, and you didn't go with the flow."
Len said that "Overall, I think Craig's talking out of his bottom. You've come out and you really impressed me."
Score: Craig 6, Arlene 7, Len 9, Bruno 8. Total 30.
Christine and Matthew were next, performing a Waltz to See the Day by Girls Aloud.
Arlene said: "A big song, a big dance and without a doubt your best yet." Len agreed.
Bruno thought that "It's great to see, as weeks go by, you get more polished and refined. Stick with that focus."
Craig said, "This week the top half of your body and the bottom half are actually a working unit."
Score: Craig 8, Arlene 8, Len 9, Bruno 9. Total 34.
Next up were Cherie and James with a Cha Cha Cha to the Wild Cherry song Play that Funky Music.
Bruno declared, "What a pair of pins! This is a breakthrough - you can do Latin. I loved it!"
"You're magnificent to watch," said Craig. "And you're beginning to conquer Latin".
Len said "Your Latin is very clean and precise - I just want to see little bit more Wild Cherry coming out".
Score: Craig 7, Arlene 8, Len 8, Bruno 9. Total 32.
Austin and Erin performed a Tango to Libertango.
Craig said it was "Aggressive, passionate, driven. You told the story, you looked like you were in absolute complete control."
"That tango was tingling with torrid passion," said Arlene. "I didn't think you had that in you."
Bruno declared, "You went for that Tango like a rampaging beast!"
Score: Craig 9, Arlene 9, Len 10, Bruno 10. Total 38.
Rachel and Vincent danced a Rhumba to You Do Something To Me by Paul Weller.
"Rachel," said Len, "if you're in the bottom two tonight, I will dance naked. I thought it was fabulous."
Bruno agreed: "Apart from needing a bucket of ice, that could revive the dead!"
"I thought it was a bit rude and indecent," said Craig. "I loved it."
Arlene said that it was the first time this series that she'd got goosebumps.
Score: Craig 9, Arlene 10, Len 10, Bruno 10. Total 39. The highest score for a rhumba on the show ever.
John and Kristina took to the floor with an American Smooth to True Love Ways by Buddy Holly. Will it be enough for John to shake off all the controversy?
"Surprisingly appealing!" said Bruno. "You nearly smell of roses, but why do you look like you're drowsy?"
Craig thought that, "However entertaining, it lacked a certain energy and drive. But your timing is very good."
Arlene said that, "For the first time tonight, John, I really got what other people see in you. It was quite endearing."
Len, having seen Terry Wogan do the Waltz for Children In Need, thought John was "amazing" by comparison
Score: Craig 5, Arlene 6, Len 7, Bruno 7. Total 25.
Last up tonight were Tom and Camilla, doing the Salsa to Pa Goza Con Fruko.
Craig said, "It was a little too much about you. It felt slightly selfish." The other judges disagreed strongly, with Len calling Craig "a born again plonker!"
Score: Craig 8, Arlene 9, Len 9, Bruno 9. Total 35.
