We caught up with some of our Strictly stars to find out what they've got planned for the festive period...

What makes a perfect Christmas?

Kelly Brook

At home in the countryside with my family. Open fires, lots of mistletoe, lots of kissing! Good food and good drink.

Mark Foster

Getting together with the family, having all the Christmas trimmings and pigging out.

Heather Small

Family and friends. I know it's the obvious answer that everyone says but I get on very well with my family and I always feel I'm the best that I am when I'm with them.

Gillian Taylforth

Being with all the family and watching all the films like It's a Wonderful Life.

Gary Rhodes

Having the family all together. Lots of smiles and no arguing about who had that last mince pie.

Flavia Cacace

Being at home with family and friends. In Italy we open our presents on Christmas Eve at midnight and we have traditional food, like lentils with pigs foot which is meant to bring you good luck!

How will you be celebrating New Year's?

Kelly Brook

New Year's is a difficult one because you always want to have a good time and then it always ends up being a bit of a disaster. Maybe a nice meal with friends, or a house party. Not a club, something more intimate.

Mark Foster

On New Year's Eve I'm going to be in Miami. So a bit of sun, sand, sea for 2009.

Heather Small

I've got no plans at the moment. I might go and see some live music to bring in the New Year.

Gillian Taylforth

I like going to parties. This year we're going out with friends, with the children as well. I think it's important that the children have a nice time too.

Gary Rhodes

We're going to a party with lots of family and friends. I can't wait to see the New Year in with something nice and fizzy!

Cherie Lunghi

I'll be in France with some of my oldest friends from college.

Flavia Cacace

New Year's is a weird one for me, I never know what I'm doing until the last minute. I just wait until I get lots of options.

Got any New Year's resolutions?

Kelly Brook

I've got loads! I'm going to try and cut down drinking and stop spending so much money. I never stick to them though!

Mark Foster

I'll try and decide when I get there. I've not really got any vices that people try to give up.

Heather Small

I don't have any major New Year's resolutions. I think the world is more dangerous and more scary than ever, so if I can navigate the full year without it getting me, I'll be happy! And if I can do something to ease some of that madness, then I will. Apart from that, i'm going to eat more chocolate.

I can't tell you those! You're supposed to keep them a secret!

Flavia Cacace

I think just to have more of a relaxing year next year and have some more breaks.

What have you got planned for 2009?

Kelly Brook

I don't really like to plan things too far ahead. I've got some work things going on. I'm going to be in England a lot more next year because I've been travelling a lot.

Heather Small

At the moment I've got a trip to Australia lined up. I'm going to sing at the Australian Golf Open and then I'll be playing the O2 Indigo in March and then going on a tour.

Gillian Taylforth

Nothing at the moment. A play might be coming up, which sounds ok but I've got 2 children. My daughter would probably like me to do it, she's 16, but I've got a son who's 9, so I'll see what's out there. I like to keep busy, so I'll see what happens.

Gary Rhodes

Next year will be a big year for me and my wife - we'll have been married for 20 years, together for 30, so it's a big year for us.

Cherie Lunghi

I've got a lot or work planned. I've got a tour, Casualty 1909 (a hospital drama) and I think Call Girl is shooting again. There's a lot of work, but I want to take some of the year off and get back to my painting.

I've got lots of shows coming up and I'm moving to a new flat which should be nice.
