I live in Wales now, but remember standing on Stoke end in the freezing cold everybody sliding downwards when something exciting happened, and remember the Boothen roar .Great memories of Matthews Franklin, Dennis Herod in goal getting injured and coming on to play on the wing with his arm in a sling ,whatever happened to George Antonio. Sid Peppit Billy Mould and MCue, and my favorite half back Frank Mountford . Alec Ormston and Baker. Great days and tough players .

My Grandma and Grandad lived opposite the Victoria Ground in Lime Street. My grandad worked as a steward at the victoria ground for twenty something years....seeing the coming and going of some very famous faces including Stanley Matthews, Gordon Banks to name but a few. I remember going round to the house as a small child and hearing the cheers from the ground. Happy days. When the ground went it was definitely the end of an era. Sadly my grandad passed away in the late seventies, but I'm sure if he was still around, he'd still be an avid Stoke City supporter, as are all my family.
