The Best thing about Stoke Pride is that, it's here again on 8th August 2009 at Northwood Park 2pm-9pm Pride Returns to the CitySaturday 8th August 2009, party in the park for Stoke Pride 2009!For the fourth year running, the LGBT Network will be holding its annual LGBT Pride event. After the spectacular success of the 2008 event, Stoke Pride 2009 is set to herald another landmark achievement for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender Communities of the Potteries. This year, the Pride extravaganza will have a new home at Northwood Park; one of Stoke-on-Trent鈥檚 most beautiful and decadent parks. For one day it will be transformed with a glittering array of street performers, art, stalls, live acts and spontaneous exhibitions to keep people entertained throughout the day.LGBT Network chair, Peter Rigby, said 鈥淭his vibrant, colourful and unifying event is open to everyone. It brings together the wider community, promotes awareness and understanding and represents a great opportunity for the City. 鈥淪toke Pride 2009 will be presenting two stages hosting a sparkling line-up of new local talent as well as acts from the gay scene including Diane James and Cassie, Sandra and Topping and Butch. Stoke Pride provides something for everyone, no matter their background, ethnicity or sexual orientation. It is a real opportunity for Stoke-on-Trent to celebrate its diverse society. Aaron Cogle from Gay Life North Staffordshire said 鈥淭he success of Stoke Pride proves what we鈥檝e always known; that Stoke is a diverse, supportive and forward-looking city that values and celebrates the contributions of its Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender individuals.鈥漇toke Pride is a free event open to everyone. It will open at 2pm and will continue until the early hours of the morning at local gay venues.More information Main Telephone Number: 01782 266998E-mail Address: info@gaystoke.org.ukOr write to:LGBT NetworkPO Box 2342Stoke-on-TrentST4 9GE

Both of us have visited the pride for the last 4 years with our kids and have always had a great time. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming and there is a great sense of community. Each year gets better and we all had a great day. We are proud to b gay parents and it is great that we are able to celebrate our sexuality with our children in such an atmosphere. The entertainment as always was top class and the venue was great look forward to next year.

I'm gay and living in Stoke. I was there last year and it was amazing. It was just nice to see the gay community together and supporting eachother. Staffs as a whole is very homophobic so it was nice to stick 2 fingers up to them for a change!
