Snowboarder Gillings fifth in Canadian World Cup final

British number one Zoe Gillings finished fifth at the fourth round of the World Cup in Canada on Wednesday, despite a heavy crash in the final.

The Isle of Man snowboarder has now reached three successive finals and moves fifth in the World Cup standings.

Despite missing out on her first podium of the season, Gilings said she was "stoked" with her performance.

Canadian Dominique Maltais won the event to move ahead of Lindsay Jacobellis in the World Cup standings.

The Winter X-Games champion finished ahead of Bulgaria's Alexandra Jekova and the Olympic gold-medallist Maelle Ricker.

American Jacobellis, who had won all three rounds so far, will miss the rest of the the season with a knee injury suffered during the X-Games.

Gillings' performance means she has now reached three successive finals after finishing fourth at the third round of the World Cup in Switzerland.

The fifth round will be held in Stoneham, Canada on 20 February.
