Enzo Maccarinelli wins Commonwealth title
Wales' Enzo Maccarinelli has become Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion after stopping holder Ovill McKenzie in the 11th round in Cardiff.
Maccarinelli edged the early rounds and McKenzie made his mark midway through.
Having weathered McKenzie's power Maccarinelli delighted home fans as referee Phil Edwards stepped in.
But Maccarinelli's fellow countryman Gary Buckland lost his British super featherweight crown to Stephen Smith's fifth-round knock-out.
The win came as a huge boost to Swansea's Maccarinelli, 32, the former WBO Cruiserweight title holder.
McKenzie, 33, had stopped Maccarinelli in November, 2012 amid the Welshman's floundering efforts to resurrect his reputation.
But the manner in which he won at the Motorpoint Arena may give Maccarinelli another chance to battle for the sport's top honours.
