British number three Kyle Edmund has withdrawn from next week's Aegon Championships at Queen's Club because of an abdominal injury.

Edmund, 20, played four times in seven days to reach the French Open second round last month but pulled out with a stomach injury before his match.

His wildcard has been given to 19-year-old Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Andy Murray is the top-ranked player at the grass court event, which features eight of the world's top 14 players.

Tournament director Stephen Farrow said: "Kyle desperately wanted to play, and we were looking forward to seeing him, but he hasn't quite returned to full fitness in time to compete at this level."

Kokkinakis has risen to a career-high 69th in the world rankings.

He reached the second round at this year's Australian Open, the last 16 in Indian Wells and won his first challenger title in Bordeaux.

"Thanasi has posted some impressive results this year, he's an exciting prospect and this is a great opportunity to show what he can do," Farrow said.
