Heather Watson beats Galina Voskoboeva in Memphis

British number one Heather Watson battled past Kazakhstan's Galina Voskoboeva to reach round two of the US Indoor Championships in Memphis.

Watson let a 5-2 lead slip in the final set against the world number 109, but came through 7-5 5-7 7-6 (7-4) after three hours and 25 minutes.

The Briton next faces American Melanie Oudin or Czech Andrea Hlavackova.

Watson's compatriot, Johanna Konta, lost 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 to Croatian Tereza Mrdeza in Bogota, Colombia.

Both Watson and Konta were part of the British Fed Cup team that won the Euro/Africa Group in Israel last weekend.
