Britain's Andy Murray outclassed Donald Young of the United States 6-2 6-0 in 48 minutes to win the Thailand Open.

Murray took the first four games before Young finally got on the board, but the Scot easily wrapped up the first set.

World number 55 Young could make no impact in the second as Murray, who beat the 22-year-old at the US Open, collected his third title this season.

"I barely made any errors. I was able to take all of my opportunities. It was a great match for me," said Murray.

"I played very well, by far my best match of the tournament. I made it difficult for him to do anything.

"He picked up a bit in the middle of the first set but by the second I was in control."

Murray suffered a in Indian Wells in March but was a comfortable winner at Flushing Meadows and now leads their career head-to-head 2-1.

"This was my first final, I wasn't nervous, but he just took me out of my game," stated Young, who will rise to a career-high ranking inside the top 50 when the next rankings are released on Monday.

"I still can't be disappointed about the week, getting to the top 50 has been one of my goals. He played very well and I couldn't do much."

Murray now travels to Tokyo to play in a field featuring world number two Rafael Nadal.

"It's a big change of surface and Tokyo's not that close," said the 24-year-old after winning his 19th career title. "I may have to be realistic in my expectations a bit.

"But this was a great week for me and it helps to begin the Asian swing like this."
