Britain's Jamie Murray and Ukrainian partner Sergiy Stakhovsky bowed out of the men's doubles at the hands of Marcel Granollers and Tommy Robredo.

The Spanish duo, seeded 14th, won their second-round match 7-5 7-6 (7-3) 6-1.

Earlier, all-British pairs Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins, and Jamie Delgado and Jonathan Marray won their delayed first-round matches.

Fleming and Hutchins took the scalp of Polish seventh seeds Marcin Matkowski and Mariusz Fyrstenberg 6-2 6-1.

They will play either Italian duo Flavio Cipolla and Paolo Lorenzi or Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov and Russia's Dmitry Tursunov in round two.

Delgado and Marray beat South American duo Carlos Berlocq and Ricardo Mello 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 8-6 and will play 11th seeds Wesley Moodie and Dick Norman next.

The first round of the competition has been shortened to three set matches to keep the tournament to schedule after rain earlier in the week.

When the wet weather returned at around 1740 BST on Friday, Ken Skupski and Elena Baltacha had taken the first set of their mixed doubles match with Dustin Brown and Vania King on a tie-break but trailed 2-5 in the second.

Delgado had his mixed doubles match with Mel South cancelled, as did ladies' pairs Laura Robson and Anne Keothavong and Jocelyn Rae and Heather Watson.
