Bianca Walkden ensures bronze at World Taekwondo Championships
Britain's Bianca Walkden has guaranteed at least a bronze medal at the World Taekwondo Championships in Russia.
Liverpudlian Walden, 23, beat Poland's Aleksandra Kowalczuk in the quarter-final of the +73kg division, striking a decisive shot with two seconds left.
Walkden meets Turkey's Nafia Kus, 20, in Saturday's semi-finals, as she bids to become only the second Briton to win a world title after Sarah Stevenson.
"Two more fights to go and I am not settling for bronze," said Walkden.
Meanwhile, fellow British hopes Georgia Barnes (-53kg) and Max Cater (-54kg), both from Southampton, exited on their World Championship debuts.
Stevenson won world titles at middleweight in 2001 and at welterweight in 2011.
