Ospreys coach Steve Tandy says fly-half Sam Davies has grown in maturity during Dan Biggar's absence on Wales duty.

The 21-year-old son of former Gloucester coach Nigel Davies scored 21 points as Ospreys beat title rivals Munster 26-12.

It was the Swansea region's first win in five Pro12 outings during the Six Nations championship.

"His maturity grown over the last four weeks and that's a real positive for us," said Tandy.

"If you compare his play against Edinburgh with today there's been a big improvement.

"We don't shout from the roof tops about how many injuries we've got and how many players we have away on international duty.

"But it does take it's toll and we've got to bring these young boys through. But I think they've done the jersey proud."

Davies, deputising at 10 while Biggar is on duty with Wales in the Six Nations, kicked six penalties and dropped a goal as Ospreys completed a league double over the Irish province.

And he created number eight Dan Baker's try with a superb floated pass late in the first half.

The victory was a timely return to form for the Welsh region who had slipped to fifth place in the table after setting the early pace with seven consecutive wins at the start of the season.

"We almost snuck a win in Glasgow, and I felt we didn't get what we deserved against Leinster last week, but I thought today we were outstanding," added Tandy.

"It's been a tough period but we knew it was coming at the start of the season when we didn't get carried away by winning seven games on the bounce.

"We knew there was a performance in us and to beat a Munster side full of confidence is great for us.

"It brings us closer to the pack and we closed on Munster. But we need to win our home games."
