Ireland Under-20s well beaten by England in semi-final

Ireland's Under-20 side lost 42-15 to holders England in the Junior World Championship semi-final in Auckland.

The powerful English side charged into a 34-3 lead with tries by Harry Sloan, Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi, Howard Packman and Tom Woolstencroft.

Ireland's only score before the break came from a Ross Byrne penalty.

The Irish, though, outscored England 12-8 in the secnod period with their tries being scored by Garry Ringrose and Alex Wootton.

Ringrose, one of Ireland's promising Under-19 players, scored from a superb Byrne grubber kick while Munster winger Wootton finished smartly in the left corner with 12 minutes remaining.
