Cardiff Blues and Wales lock Bradley Davies has been banned for two weeks after an illegal shoulder charge during their 21-10 Pro12 win over Connacht.

The 26-year-old, who has won 40 caps, was found guilty at a disciplinary hearing in Scotland on Wednesday.

He will miss the Blues' clash against Zebre on Friday, 20 September and Leinster on Friday, 27 September.

Davies had his ban reduced from an initial three-week ban because of his remorse for his actions.

He was found to have charged into a ruck or maul "without use of the arms or without grasping a player" in the game against Connacht.

Davies led under-strength Wales in their drawn Test series to Japan in the off-season.

He had missed Wales' 2013 Six Nations success because of an ankle injury.

Davies was also absent for most of Wales' 2012 Grand Slam campaign after being banned following a citing for a spear tackle in their opening win against Ireland in Dublin.
