Cornish Pirates loan London Welsh winger Ashley Smith

Cornish Pirates have signed London Welsh winger Ashley Smith on loan.

The 21-year-old has penned a deal until the end of the season, and joins after Grant Pointer suffered a knee injury.

Smith signed for Welsh in January last year from Wasps and has yet to play in the Premiership for the Exiles.

He has made three starts in the Amlin Cup this season and scored his only try as a replacement in the 62-5 win over Cavalieri Prato last month.

He made his only appearance for Wasps as a replacement in an LV= Cup match against Exeter in January last year.

Smith also played for Stourbridge in National One and Loughborough Students in National Two South.
