Wales wing Harry Robinson is focused on Blues' season

Wales wing Harry Robinson says he wants to establish himself at Cardiff Blues this season before thinking about more appearances for his country.

Robinson, 19, burst on the international scene with a try on his Wales debut in June.

His perfomance drew high praise but for now Robinson will focus on the Blues.

"There's a long line of great wingers ahead of me so I've just got to concentrate on the Blues' season first of all," he said.

"I'm just going to take it bit-by-bit.

"The autumn internationals are coming up but I'm not focused on that at the moment.

"I'm just training hard for Cardiff Blues and putting the work in and hopefully getting a few games for them at the start of the season."

The Cardiff-born youngster, who has also been backed for success by former Wales wing Shane Williams, made eight appearances for his hometown team and scored two tries in what proved a disappointing season for the club.

The Blues' Pro12 play-off challenge failed and they were thumped 34-3 in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup by defending champions Leinster.

Twelve players left at the end of the season, including Wales internationals Gethin Jenkins and scrum-half Richie Rees, although wing Alex Cuthbert did commit his future to the region in May.

But despite those setbacks, Robinson believes new director of rugby Phil Jones, who succeeded Dai Young, is the right man to lead the club back to better times.

"He's a great guy," said Robinson, who will play with the Blues at the Arms Park next season following the club's move back from the Cardiff City Stadium.

"He's a really good people person and he's a great coach as well.

"Even when we're out doing the fitness sessions he's out on the pitch spurring us on.

"He's brought a new ethos to the environment.

"We've set goals and we know what we want to do and how we're going to do it," added Robinson.

"He's been a breath of fresh air coming in."
