St Helens winger Tommy Makinson has had his ban for head contact reduced to two matches.

Makinson was originally given a three-game suspension following his red card for a high tackle in Saints' 42-6 defeat by Hull KR on Saturday.

The club challenged the grading of the Grade D charge and it was reduced to a Grade C offence following a meeting with the Operational Rules Tribunal on Tuesday.

It means the 32-year-old will miss Sunday's visit to Huddersfield Giants and the trip to Warrington Wolves on Friday, 6 September as they battle to retain a top-six spot during their end-of-season run-in.

He will be available for Saints' final home match of the regular season against Castleford Tigers on Friday, 13 September.

Three Hull KR players were also charged in the original Match Review Panel.

Kelepi Tanginoa, Elliot Minchella and James Batchleor were charged with Grade B offences, with the latter being given a one-game ban.
