Brett Hodgson named as Exiles captain for International Origin

Warrington full-back Brett Hodgson will captain the Exiles against England at his club's home ground on 14 June.

Three other Wolves players, Joel and Michael Monaghan and Trent Waterhouse, are in the squad, which is made up of foreign Super League players, for the annual International Origin fixture.

There are also four St Helens players in the squad, Lance Hohaia, Willie Manu, Tony Puletua and Iosia Soliola.

Former Leeds boss Brian McClennan will coach the team at the Halliwell Jones.

McClennan led the Exiles to victory in the inaugural fixture in 2011. Daniel Anderson was in charge for the double header of fixtures in 2012, which was drawn.

England will use the Exiles clash as preparation for the World Cup, which takes place in October.

"I had a great time coaching the Exiles two years ago and I'm looking forward to replicating the spirit we had in camp in 2011," said McClennan.

"Brett Hodgson brings a lot to the side on and off the field - his leadership and experience are going to be crucial for us. It's a one-off match and we're going to give it our best shot."

Hodgson said: "The Exiles is a wonderful concept, we have an exciting squad and it's a great honour to be chosen as captain - especially in front of my home supporters.

"For players on either side it's their only representative opportunity before the Rugby League World Cup, so I expect a very intense battle.

"I really hope the Warrington public come out and support the match in huge numbers. It's important that England are at their best at the World Cup, and they are going to have to be that to beat us."
